About CanDid

Hiring on what someone can do

CanDid exists because the first filter in most hiring processes reads a document about a person instead of the person. We replace that filter with a structured interview everyone gets, scored the same way, and read by a human before it counts for anything.

What we are trying to fix

Three failures, all of them ordinary, all of them expensive for the people on the receiving end.

Resume screening is a proxy

A resume records where someone has been, which correlates with opportunity at least as much as with ability. Screening on it filters for the familiar.

Requirements that do not predict anything

Degree and years-of-experience floors are cheap to write and hard to justify. They exclude people who would do the job well and are rarely revisited.

Unstructured interviews are not comparable

Two candidates asked different questions by different people on different days cannot be compared, however confident the panel feels afterwards.

What we do instead

Structured assessment is one of the better-supported findings in selection research: ask everyone the same things, score against written criteria, and the result predicts performance more reliably than a resume screen does.

Everyone gets the same interview

Questions come from a blueprint for the role or skill, adapted to the candidate's own experience so the examples are theirs, not a template's.

Scores carry their evidence

Every score points at the answer that produced it and the criterion it was measured against, including the concerns the scorer raised. A number nobody can interrogate is not evidence.

A person makes the call

The software never decides. A reviewer reads the result and decides what to do with it, which is both the legally defensible position and the honest one.

What we do not claim

It is easier to say this here once than to have it discovered later.

Assessed, not verified
Taking a skill assessment gives a claim evidence: the questions asked and how they scored. We do not call that verified, because verification would mean a human reviewer signed the skill off, and that is not a step we have built.
No automated decisions
CanDid does not reject, shortlist or hire anyone. It produces scored, readable interviews for a person to act on.
Your answers are not a product
Interview data is not sold, and it is not used to train third-party models. It is stored encrypted in Canada, and you can have it deleted.

Two ways in

Take an interview and see what the format is like, or set up a workspace and run one.
